Centennial is one of Colorado’s newest cities. It was on September 12, 2000 when voters within Arapahoe County approved the establishment of their own city. On February 7, 2001, the City of Centennial was legally established as a Colorado City.
Centennial has an upstanding reputation for its safety. It's a family oriented city providing a wonderful environment for children, schools, recreation and with a community feel. Geographically it is well positioned to allow residents the convenience of the city in Downtown Denver, yet with the benefits of suburban living. Centennial real estate offers some of the best neighborhoods in south Metro Denver. Homes for sale in Centennial typically do not last long on the market. The city's economy has a wide array of businesses and encourages healthy growth. In 2011 Centennial became the Colorado home to IKEA, the highly popular home furnishings store.
There are excellent educational opportunities with the city's two renowned public school districts, Cherry Creek and Littleton. Also available are private learning and tutoring centers. Nearby, youth and adults benefit from Arapahoe Community College.
There is an abundance of health facilities and hospitals in and nearby Centennial.
