A first design of the new park displays a quarter-mile trail, an open playing field and the potential for either a playground or picnic shelters.

The city is holding two meetings to discuss the ideas, the first one on June 23 at 3pm and the second one on June 25 at 7 pm at the Lone Tree Civic Center.

The park location is planned to be at the intersection of Kimmer and Park Meadows Drives.

Though the park will improve the area in general, there are limited possibilities as far as design goes. Since the area is only 7 acres big and has a detention pond, having an informal play area by the detention pond is possible, but not ideal. City planners suggest a picnic area instead. A great new feature of the park will be the extension of an existing trail from Park Meadows Drive, which would prove to be a definite upgrade.

South Suburban Parks and Recreation, who own the lot, will sponsor the project with $500,000. Final numbers for the project are still uncertain though but are be projected to be between one or two million.
