Sky Ridge Medical Center plans to open a pediatric emergency room near the new women’s health building. This emergency room will only cater to children up to 18 years old. Patients with major trauma will be moved to the adult emergency room because there will be more resources to treat them.
Hospital officials realized that children need a separate space to be treated in order to feel more comfortable. The emergency room will have pediatric specialists to treat sick children, such as pediatric radiologists, anesthesiologists etc.
The hope is that this will additionally reduce the high traffic in the existing emergency room and make it more efficient.
The official opening was on February 15 and the emergency room will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
