The Canyons, a new master-planned development that has been years in the making, has recently made a big step forward.  Shea Homes Colorado has purchased 1,270 acres out of 3,300 acres of previously annexed land East of I-25 between the Hess Road and Happy Canyon Road interchanges. 

This purchase will allow it to begin development of The Canyons, which at full build-out will feature 2,000 new homes from a variety of builders.  Shea Homes expects to invest $75,000,000 in the community over the next four years.

When completed, The Canyons will nearly double the size of the City of Castle Pines.  A vision of active, outdoor lifestyles and environmental stewardship has determined their plans for more than half of the development to be dedicated to parks and open space.  In addition, 49 acres will be used for public schools, 20 acres for civic uses, 4 acres for a transit station, as well as areas designated for retail, restaurants and office space. 

Shea Homes will begin residential infrastructure work this year.  It expects to start delivering lots to builders in 2017, with homes ready for move-in starting in 2018.
