This number is based on statistics from a 10 county area including Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Broomfield, and Centennial – but not Boulder County. Within these 10 counties, 47,839 people were actively looking for work in September 2015. In comparison, the unemployment rate in the Fort Collins-Loveland area is 2.7%, in the Greely area it is 3.3%, in the Grand Junction area it is 4.8% and in the Colorado Springs area it is 4%.
